Collection: 8-Piece Exclusive 1993 Shona Sculpture Collection Needs New Home!

Eight (8) Stunning Sculptures for a Steal!

Owners Relocating—Invest Only £5000 for the Entire Collection!! Plus 4 small bonus pieces!

The current owners of this extraordinary Shona sculpture collection are moving house and sadly, they are unable to to take the sculptures with to their new home. Hence the need to find a new home for the sculptures. They are happy to consider offers way below the value of the collection. The collection features pieces from renowned second-generation artists including Freddy Mariga, Godfrey Kututwa, Davidson Chakawa, Bakari Manzi, and Staycott Tahwa. In total, it includes 8 sculptures and 4 smaller pieces.  Some of sculptures could do with some refinishing touches, waxing and polishing.

We have a certificate of authenticity for the Freddy Mariga piece, while the others are identifiable by signatures. One piece, which we titled Submission, has an unclear signature, and we've shared a photo of the signed base in hopes someone may help identify it.

This collection was brought to the UK in 1993 by the late Edward Hildyard after his visit to Zimbabwe, where he, Helen Collis, and Anne D'Arcy Hughes studied the works of master sculptors like Bernard Matemera, Josiah Manzi, Staycot Tahwa, Kakoma Kweli, and Barankinya Gosta, among others from Tengenege. These pieces, purchased from Tengenenge and the Vhukutiwa Gallery, were exhibited at the 1993 Five Ways Brighton Festival Open Houses exhibition at Edward’s home in Brighton.

Now, you can own this remarkable collection—act fast and make an offer to buy it as a whole collection! We are happy to discuss any offer.
