Artist Profile - Webster Mubayirenyi

Webster Mubayirenyi, a Painter from Zimbabwe

Webster Mubayirenyi

I was born in Zimbabwe in 1976 and pursued my Visual Arts Education at B.A.T School of Arts under the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, graduating with with a first class pass. In 2009, I achieved the esteemed Progressive Artist award, marking my proficiency in printmaking, sculpture, fabric design, and visual arts.

My artistic inspiration is drawn from the spiritual and dream realms, focusing on creating beautiful landscapes through colorful abstraction. I explore political, traditional, and international themes, engaging with global social activities. Utilizing acrylic and oil paint on canvas, I often derive subject matter from traditional farming methods, incorporating terraced techniques both locally and internationally. Vibrant ethnic colors characterize my work, serving to promote and highlight the significance of agriculture and farming in Zimbabwe’s economy.

Influenced by esteemed artists such as Luis Merque, Handert Warsser, and Collin Carr, I continually experiment with styles and approaches in my artwork. It brings me great pleasure to have exhibited my work worldwide, with the added pride of seeing it acquired by art enthusiasts and collectors globally.
