Eckel Nyamhondoro is a trail blazing stone sculptor, renowned for his exceptional artworks that vividly depict the breadth of human experience.. Beyond his remarkable creations, Eckel dedicates himself to nurturing the next generation of artists through his training school for budding artists. Accepting students as young as 4 years old, his school offers a supportive environment for budding talents to explore their creativity, learn essential techniques, and develop their artistic voices under Eckel's expert guidance.

Eckel Nyamhondoro

Born in 1972 in the Guruve District of Zimbabwe, a hub of sculpting tradition, Eckel Nyamhondoro hails from a vibrant family background, with his father having four wives and a total of 28 children.

At the age of twenty, Eckel's artistic journey began when he joined his cousin Enos Chengo at his sculpting studio, an experience that fueled his passion for art. Subsequently, he became an active member of the Tengenenge Art community for eight years, further honing his skills during a two-year stint at Edronce Rukodzi Studios.

Eckel's commitment to nurturing young talents led him to conduct a workshop in St. Andreasberg, Germany, in 2002, as part of the African-German cultural exchange. Drawing inspiration from tribal mythology, his sculptures exude a spiritual and contemplative aura, often depicting the harmony between humanity and nature.

With a penchant for intricate detailing, Eckel's sculptures challenge viewers to discern between front and back, showcasing his unique style. His impressive exhibition history includes prestigious venues like the Museum of Modern Art in San Diego and the Kirstin Bihl Competition organized by the German Embassy.

Eckel's outreach efforts extend to teaching art, notably at Sunview College in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, where he inspired students from various corners of the globe. His students' achievements, including participation in international exhibitions and recognition at national events, attest to his impactful mentorship.

In 2018, Eckel established his own art center, catering to students of all ages. His dedication to promoting cultural exchange earned him opportunities such as participating in the SADCC cultural week exhibition in Kuwait.

Eckel's artistic reach transcends borders, with exhibitions in galleries and collections across the USA, European Union, Asia, and Africa. In recent years, he showcased his work at international events like Art for Art in Pakistan and the Fundación Bellas Artes in Ecuador, solidifying his position as a globally recognized artist.
