Shaping Dreams in Stone: The Inspiring Journey of Blessing Mitorozo

Blessing Mitorozo

Born on February 25, 1984, in Kambuzuma, Harare, Zimbabwe, Blessing Mitorozo discovered his passion for art at an early age. After completing his primary education at Zengeza Main Primary School and secondary studies at Zengeza 3 High School, his artistic journey began in 1997 when he met renowned sculptor Kennedy Mukwanda. Working as Mukwanda’s assistant for a year and a half, Blessing learned the fundamentals of finishing and polishing sculptures, all while nurturing his own dream of becoming a renowned sculptor.

Blessing later collaborated with both his elder brother, Peter Mitorozo, and Mukwanda, drawing inspiration from their guidance. Their mentorship helped him build the confidence to carve independently. Today, Blessing is a full-time sculptor based at the Chitungwiza Arts Centre, where his talent and dedication have flourished.

In 2005, Blessing’s artistic prowess was recognized at the "Creativity and Originality" exhibition held at the Chitungwiza Arts Centre, where he earned fifth place among the top ten participants. His sculptures have since reached international audiences, with works showcased in Germany, the UK, Australia, Holland, the USA, Canada, and beyond.

Specializing in hard stones, Blessing’s art reflects his passion and perseverance. His message to aspiring artists: "Keep pursuing your craft, no matter the challenges—hard times never break us. God bless you."
