Mastering Stone, Celebrating Wildlife, and Connecting Cultures

Clephas Zvirevo

Born on February 5, 1971, in Ndanga, Masvingo, Zimbabwe, Clephas Zvirevo developed a passion for sculpting early in life, learning the craft from his brother. Specializing in animal-themed sculptures, Clephas is known for his intricate depictions of elephants, rhinos, chameleons, and even unconventional subjects like old shoes. His preferred medium is serpentine stone, which he hand-carves with remarkable precision.

Clephas’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in his upbringing as the third-born in a family of six. He completed both his primary and secondary education in his hometown of Ndanga. Today, he lives with his wife and three children—two sons and a daughter—and works full-time at the Chitungwiza Arts Centre, a creative hub where his talent continues to flourish.

In 2006, Clephas earned a Certificate of Merit from the Chitungwiza Arts Centre, recognizing his dedication to his craft. His work has reached international audiences, with exhibitions held in the Netherlands, the USA, the UK, Denmark, Canada, Australia, and Germany. He has also participated in workshops alongside global designers, further expanding his artistic vision and skills.

Clephas finds inspiration in the support and enthusiasm of his customers, whose appreciation drives his creativity. His sculptures not only showcase Zimbabwe’s wildlife and culture but also reflect his love for the art that connects him with people around the world.
