"Frog" is a stunning stone sculpture carved from Jade by Freddie Mariga, son of the legendary Joram Mariga, who is regarded as the 'Father of Zimbabwean Sculpture'. This piece was purchased from Vhukutiwa Gallery and became part of a collection brought to the UK in 1993 by Edward Hildyard. It was showcased in the Five Ways Brighton Festival Open Houses exhibition at his home in Fiveways, Brighton.

We hold a certificate of authenticity for this sculpture, signed by the director of Vhukutiwa Gallery on 23rd September 1993.

Born in 1962, Freddie Mariga began his sculpting journey in 1979, refining his craft over the years. His works have been exhibited and sold internationally. This particular sculpture, depicting a frog, is crafted from the exquisite Jade stone, known for its smooth, lustrous finish when polished, adding a rich depth to the piece.
