Taurai E. Mupaso
Born on August 3, 1978, Taurai E. Mupaso began his journey into the world of sculpting while still in school, learning under the guidance of renowned artists Kennedy Phiri(late) and Creto Simon. After completing his O-level studies in 1995, he briefly stepped away from sculpting to explore various industrial jobs. However, in 2000, Taurai returned to his passion, working closely with Kennedy Phiri, who helped him refine his artistic skills and encouraged him to join the Chitungwiza Arts Centre.
Taurai’s sculptural works span a variety of forms, including abstract and figurative creations, with a particular focus on animals. Among his pieces, the owl has become his signature subject, widely recognized for his distinctive craftsmanship. His work earned him a certificate from the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe for Creativity and Originality.
Taurai is a proud father of two children, a boy and a girl, and outside of his sculpting career, he enjoys playing snooker and watching football. His dedication to his art and passion for creative expression continue to shape his evolving legacy in the world of stone sculpture.
